Are you trying to communicate with a specific individual or a wider audience?

We can all communicate with like-minded people, but sometimes we have something really important to say and are struggling to find ways to communicate effectively. It can feel like banging your head against a brick wall. No one is necessarily right or wrong, you just can’t speak the same language. Do you need help to get your message across? I am inviting applications to an exclusive 4-day advanced techniques course in Communication

You will already be aware of the fundamental skills to communicating your message successfully:

UNDERSTANDING… It’s important to find ways to understand the other person’s needs and drivers in order to have a meaningful conversation without alienating them.

LISTENING… We are all aware how vital good listening is and practise daily. Most of the time it goes smoothly, but at times, when we are particularly passionate about change, we can be overly eager to the finishing post, and it goes badly. Alternatively, we/they/both might colour what is heard by what we/they have already decided to be true. Staying open, curious and non-judgemental sometimes requires some additional tools and skills – particularly when you or they are emotionally attached to the subject.

CLARIFYING… Are you clear on the message you want to convey? How big is your audience? Are you tailoring your message accordingly? The words, tone and approach needed to engage a room full of strangers will be radically different to a 1-2-1 conversation! Are there people you need to reach but haven’t found the means yet?

INFLUENCING… You’re seeking to explain and/or persuade people with integrity and by being genuine. When people feel coerced, pushed or manipulated they are easily lost. Lasting change is driven by influencing for the right reason and in an ethical way that benefits everyone. This applies whether it’s on a personal level right through to spreading a message to society at large.

This workshop will be taking your knowledge deeper for those light-bulb, eureka, discoveries and moments of clarity.

THE WORKSHOP

On this experiential course we will be taking these skills to a new level to help you be the best communicator you can be. This might be a conversation with a loved one or a much larger audience with say the aim of getting an environmental, social or political message out into the world. Whatever it is, you will leave more equipped to articulate your message effectively in order to facilitate the change that you are seeking. Over 4-days we will focus on:

Taking an in depth look at your personal communication preferences and those that you are wishing to communicate with. Based on the work of Carl Jung we will start by looking at the effect your own neurological wiring, preferences and ways of being in the world have on your communication style. NB. If you haven’t done it before, or would like to do it again, we offer the full MBTI Step 2 personality profiling as part of the course.

Recognising and meeting other people’s needs and identifying the areas where they may be different from your own and finding ways to bridge that gap.

Learning and discovering strategies to reach people who have different needs, priorities and communication styles.

Examining your representational systems: Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic – and how that can hinder and aid communication both with regards to your own understanding and that of others. Discover how the message can be more easily transmitted when dealing with people with different ways of communicating and learning.

Studying different communication styles and how to influence a mixed audience

Walking in the other person’s shoes. What is it like to be heard and understood. Discover, understand and then use their representational systems in order to achieve greater awareness and as a consequence more influence.

Advanced listening skills to help identify the needs, interests, learning and communication preferences so that you can adjust your communication to meet their needs. This in turn will create a greater connection and result in you being more easily heard by the other person.

In addition, the workshop will:

provide a nourishing and mindful space to step back, reflect and re-energise as you face your respective challenges

Select the resource needed to support your role as an agent for change

Connect and inspire participants on your shared journey for effective change

WHO IS THE WORKSHOP FOR?

I am inviting applications to join this small group of just 8 delegates to work with experienced facilitators on your specific issue and needs through structured group work and individual attention. This is an advanced course that will be tailored for each attendee. You will leave the 4-days with your desired outcome: to communicate your message effectively and to influence your audience and/or a specific individual with integrity and passion.
