Workshop with Iain McGilchrist - The Master and His Emissary and The Divided Brain

“It was a great privilege to be able to spend time over four days listening and talking to Iain McGilchrist whose breadth of knowledge of science, history, literature, art, poetry and music is so impressive. It is rare to attend a course where the latest in scientific research, in this case into the functioning of the left and right hemispheres of the brain, is integrated so effortlessly with the words of William Wordsworth and the art of Claude Lorrain and much more. The course provided in depth information about the work of left and right brain hemispheres, whilst also allowing us time and space to reflect deeply on our views of the world and the implications of left hemisphere dominance for our humanity, health, happiness and well being.”

“What was particularly clever was how you achieved the synthesis of the attendants; we appeared from multiple directions bringing multiple disciplines and experience yet there was a sense of belonging and sharing.
The updated course page catches the rhythm of the seminar beautifully and it walks the reader through the days capturing the essence of both the content and the environment.
It was fun, stimulating, inclusive and that was just the company of the other ‘learners’; most of all I salute both of you and of course the magnificent Dr for bringing us together and providing so much food for thought!
Thank you.”

“A splendid 4-day programme: Iain McGilchrist’s talks are deceptively demanding intellectually but these are counterbalanced by sessions which cleverly allow these new ideas and concepts to be assimilated more easily. When you couple this with the 4* star location, this makes for a truly memorable weekend.”
Charles Grimes

“The opportunity to listen to Iain McGilchrist’s life’s research and his own personal story was utterly useful and totally compelling. That, combined with the chance to exercise my creative side in a relaxed atmosphere, was a wonderful experience that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone interested in achieving some balance in their hectic modern lives.”
Chris Colcomb

“Iain McGilchrist is immensely insightful, compelling and brilliantly provocative. It was a pleasure and privilege to spend time learning from him and with the group. A warm, welcoming and flexible environment.”
Kate Lanz

“This course was intelligent, challenging, moving and therapeutic in equal measures – a veritable feast for the senses. The conversations over lunch and dinner were as illuminating as Iain’s views. It was interesting to see how all participants took something different from the conversation according to how it helped their own experience”
William O’Connor, Foundation Professor and Head of Teaching and Research in Physiology at the University of Limerick.
.
“Iain’s book resonated profoundly with me and reminded me that I was missing something(s) in my life. The course has enabled me to explore these thoughts more fully and to identify some ways forward.”

It is so rare to be able to listen and have conversations with someone of Iain’s breadth of knowledge and experience.  I have come away feeling refreshed and stimulated at every level. I wouldn’t miss it for anything.

Miriam Orriss

I recommend any means that leads to people getting closer to the vision that Iain introduces us to.

Joy Graham

Full of information from very different perspectives.  Iain McGilchrist is a teacher of philosophy, biology, neurology, theology – all of which gives us learning about human life, death and sublime joy.  This is for anyone who is interested in who they are and who they can become.

Maggie Winter

This course has been a rich feast of science, art, creativity in many forms and fruitful discussions with people from diverse disciplines and so much more.  It has enriched me personally and will inform my work as a psychiatrist in such a meaningful way.

It has been the right mix of talks from Iain, diverse creative workshops and an opportunity to mingle and talk.  The chance to meet and talk with Dr Iain McGilchrist is one for which I am eternally grateful. While reading his book was eye-opening and immensely rewarding, the insights I gained here were experientially increased by being able to participate in workshops with him and make new friends from diverse walks of life.  The experience is simply life-changing. It was much beyond measure.

Manuela Hrasky

It has really allowed me to open my mind.  Iain has a wonderful way of portraying the information to whatever level present.  I have learnt things beyond which I would expect to be able to comprehend.

Marilyn Clothier

I came to the programme with no preconceptions or expectations.  I found a diversity of topics and discussions that has been thought provoking and practically useful.  A very enjoyable experience.

Janine Brooks

I read the book and was delighted at how much the course added to my understanding.  It also gave me many stimulating experiences into the bargain. I would unhesitantly recommend the course as a potentially life-changing experience.

John Miller

A wonderful journey into what it means to be connected to the universe through the right hemisphere and the magic of simply being rather than doing.  Thought provoking and humbling. Iain is a polymath and a wonderful communicator. His insight and humility in sharing his extensive knowledge reflects what a marvelous human being he is.  Everybody should have privilege of benefitting from his philosophy on life.

Howard Lack

Very timely.  As I’m working on my next book it was great to get a refresher and deepen my knowledge of left and right hemisphere concepts.  Useful input to the book as well as to my general understanding of life, brains and reality. Reality doesn’t seem quite as real after an Iain McGilchrist course, but it does seem a lot more intriguing, mind-bending and full of wonder.  Great stuff.

Roz Savage

Four days of soaking up information to nourish and deepen by learning and knowledge of the brain and its application.  Good connections and conversations with interesting, intelligent people who have/more different experiences and knowledge and in a beautiful environment.

Kaaren Brook

This course based around ‘The Master and his Emissary’ has been pure joy.  The level of academic knowledge and insight and Iain’s stunning ability to deliver his material has been an experience I simply wouldn’t have missed.  It has been wonderful to be surrounded by such an amazing and immensely academic field and wealth of extraordinary knowledge. Thank you.
